Considering Longer Chemotherapy
July 21, 2009 (New York Times) The newest prognosis for cancer may be longer chemotherapy. MediGuide offers services to eligible members of self-insured or
affinity groups. In many cases, the program will be administered
by an insurance company or other third party administrator. MediGuide’s
program is independently managed and implemented, but works closely
with health care management personnel to assure coordination of
care and maximization of your health benefits.
Please contact your benefit manager or a group to verify benefits
and eligibility. MediGuide must receive confirmation of eligibility
in order to initiate the Second Opinion service. Member responsibility
depends on group benefit plan’s design. Usually, the first remote
consultation is covered under MediGuide contract. MediGuide will
also pay the attending physician for preparing the medical records
file and all record transfers. If a consulting institution recommends
an in-person examination, MediGuide may cover member transportation
to and from medical center.
The follow up consultations, as well as any additional tests, which
might be required for completion of the Second Opinion, may be the
responsibility of the member or the employer. Please be aware that
your benefits may be substantially less or non-existent, if a medical
center providing the Second Opinion is not participating in a plan
provider network or is out-or-area. The deductible and co-insurance
may apply.
The results of Second Opinion consultation will be sent to the member,
the attending physician, and the plan administrator care management
or the disease management department, as appropriate.
If your employer is not offering MediGuide program at this time
any individual may join MediGuide by applying online. Join
