We sat down with Karla, MediGuide’s new Global VP of Strategic Growth, to hear her first impressions, strategic vision, and the opportunities she sees for innovation in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. With a strong background in digital transformation and global partnerships, Karla brings a bold perspective to the future of our company. Here’s what she had to say.
Q. Now that you are starting with us, what are your first impressions of MediGuide, and what attracted you most to our company?
A. My first impressions of MediGuide have been nothing short of amazing. From day one, it confirmed that I made the right decision.
In fact, the opportunities to create meaningful impact and deliver results as Global VP of Strategic Growth are even greater, and more excitingly challenging, than I initially imagined.
What drew me in was the rare combination of a strong global legacy and a bold, innovative spirit. The company’s digital transformation and expansion into new service lines show a clear vision for the future.
And what’s been especially energizing is the collaborative spirit of the team; there’s a real sense of shared purpose and momentum that makes me confident we’ll achieve great things together.
“What drew me in was the rare combination of a strong global legacy and a bold, innovative spirit.”
Q.How does your background support your role at MediGuide?
A. My background aligns closely with MediGuide’s mission and growth ambitions.
Over the years, I’ve led strategic growth initiatives across global markets, driving digital transformation and launching innovative service lines in insurance, health, and fintech. This experience has given me a deep understanding of how to scale impact, build strategic partnerships, and navigate complex ecosystems.
At MediGuide, I see a unique opportunity to apply this expertise to expand our global footprint, co-create value with partners, and lead transformative growth in a space that’s evolving rapidly, and meaningfully.
Q. You have a deep understanding of the healthcare sector. What do you think are the most important trends or challenges currently facing the sector, and how do you think MediGuide can position itself to address them?
A. The insurance sector is evolving rapidly, rising costs, demand for personalization, and digital integration are reshaping expectations. MediGuide is uniquely positioned to lead this shift.
We offer three complementary services: second medical opinions, international treatment coordination, and digital health tools like telemedicine. These solutions not only enhance product value and reduce costs but also drive customer retention and satisfaction.
What sets us apart is our ability to deliver innovative care while respecting local market dynamics. That’s why our services are increasingly integrated across non-health verticals, like banking, fintech, and consumer platforms, where the positive impact on end users strengthens loyalty and adds measurable value. This cross-sector relevance is a key driver of our strategic growth.
“Our goal is to position MediGuide not just as a healthcare provider, but as a strategic growth partner across diverse industries.”
Q. Looking ahead, what are your main goals or areas you would like to focus your energy on during your first few months at MediGuide?
A. In my initial months at MediGuide, my primary focus is on accelerating growth in high-potential regions, especially within the International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) markets, where global mobility and access to top-tier care are critical. We're also targeting regions undergoing rapid digital transformation, where our solutions can make a meaningful impact.
Another key priority is broadening our distribution channels by embedding MediGuide’s services into non-traditional sectors such as banking, fintech, and consumer platforms.
These partnerships not only enhance user experience but also drive customer loyalty and product differentiation.
Ultimately, the goal is to position MediGuide not just as a healthcare provider, but as a strategic growth partner across diverse industries.
Q. Digitization and telemedicine are becoming increasingly crucial. From your perspective, what technologies or digital approaches do you think MediGuide could leverage most effectively to optimize our processes, expand our reach, or improve the patient experience?
A. Digitization is a core pillar of our growth strategy, and we’re already in the midst of this transformation with the rollout of MediGuide’s new digital platform , intuitive, easy to integrate, and designed to scale.
It enables faster, more efficient access for members, while streamlining operations, allowing for more competitive pricing, and providing deeper insights into user behavior.
For our partners, this means quicker onboarding, enhanced value for their customers, and a differentiated health solution that drives engagement and loyalty.
At the same time, we remain deeply committed to preserving the human touch that defines our services. Technology enhances our reach and efficiency, but empathy, clinical excellence, and personalized care remain at the heart of everything we do.
We’re also leveraging AI for smarter triage and personalization, API integrations to expand distribution, and omnichannel communication to ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience.
Q. With your international experience, what specific characteristics or challenges of the European healthcare market do you think MediGuide should consider in order to strengthen its position and relevance?
A. With my international experience, I see the European insurance market as highly developed yet fragmented, characterized by strict regulation, evolving customer expectations, and a growing demand for innovation and value.
To strengthen MediGuide’s position in this landscape, I believe we should focus on three key areas:
Compliance and data protection: In a highly regulated environment like Europe, especially under GDPR, our solutions must be secure, transparent, and fully compliant, building trust with both insurers and policyholders.
Seamless integration: Many insurers already operate within robust digital ecosystems. Our value lies in offering intuitive, easy-to-integrate APIs and a user journey that complements existing services, delivering value without friction.
Differentiation through experience, impact, and clinical value: European insurers seek solutions that combine digital efficiency with a human touch. MediGuide delivers fast access, lean operations, and deep user insights, while ensuring access to more accurate diagnoses and better treatment options. This clinical depth is central to our mission and a key differentiator in the market.
For our partners, this translates into stronger customer retention, product differentiation, and a more compelling value proposition for their members.
